Wednesday, April 19th 2017

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) Las Vegas Metropolitan Police says Richi Briones, 32, is was arrested and is behind bars after stabbing multiple people, Wednesday morning.

Detectives say the incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. at a convenience store in the 4300 block of Stewart. The second event took place around 10:15 a.m. outside a restaurant in the 4400 block of E. Charleston where one victim was stabbed. The third event occurred just before 10:50 a.m. at a convenience store in the 500 block of N. Lamb, where a male customer was stabbed.

The convenience store customer that was stabbed in the 500 block of N. Lamb, did not survive his injuries.

Lt. Dan McGrath of the LVMPD says Briones, attempted to buy a shotgun in between the attacks this morning.

Court records show that Briones underwent a court-ordered mental health evaluation earlier this year. Records show that a state court judge ruled Briones competent in January to face a felony auto theft charge. The case was dismissed in February by a local judge after a preliminary hearing of evidence.

Around 7:10 p.m., Wednesday, Briones was taken into custody without incident at a bus stop on Boulder Highway near US 95. His vehicle was located near Flamingo and Maryland Parkway.
