SALISBURY, N.C. -- Salisbury Police are investigating after silicone injections from an unlicensed individual ended in death.
According to officials, Salisbury Police were initially notified of the malpractice by an out-of-state victim who was dealing with serious health issues as a result of receiving silicone injections in January from 42-year-old Kavonceya Iman Cornelius, who is also known as Kenneth Rudolph Cornelius.
The initial investigation led to a death investigation after the victim, 19-year-old Eugene Jones, later died as a result of the procedure.
Police say that after Cornelius gave Jones the injections, he returned to Fayetteville where he later died.
The investigation found that Cornelius had been conducting these medical procedures with non-medical grade silicone, authorities say.
A warrant for second-degree murder was served to Cornelius on Monday. She was placed in the RC Detention Center under no bond.
